A tennis shoe'd foot stepped forward and rested on the wooden plank that was one of many in the long pier of the island. That first step meant wonders to the owner of the foot. That first step meant a new life. That first step meant making a loved one proud. It meant being alone, though not completely. A new world to explore, and new people to meet.
It also meant that the other was stuck.
Miyako Hatsune, a young, blue-haired teenager from the mainland, growled softly as she tugged on her other foot. The shoelace of the other shoe had apparently become untied and was now stuck in the hinge of the ferry boat gate. "Come on, you stupid shoe, or i swear i'll replace you!" The moment she said that, she gave a hard tug and immediately found herself tumbling off the ferry and landing facedown a few planks down the pier.
Miyako gave a huff and picked herself up, turning to sit down on her black-skirted bottom and leaning over to tie her shoe. These were her lucky shoes (albeit they were her only shoes), and one might be able to tell if they looked closely enough. There were sewn holes in the fabric of the shoes and the soles had obviously been repaired numerous times. The laces were the only new thing about them, and perhaps this could be attributed to the fact that they kept untying. Once she finished tying her shoelace, she stood to her feet and dusted her bare legs and her skirt off, then turned to pick up the small suitcase that had fallen behind her.
"Well, that wasn't the most graceful entrance....but here I am!" She looked up at the sky with a smile on her face and began to make her way to the shore. Now...to find her first adventure!

Behind the girl who had entered awkwardly onto the pier, another stood as she'd attempted to reach out and help the blue-haired girl, only to be too late and watch the embarrassing faceplant onto the pier. Cringing in pseudo-pain from watching the fall, the redhead quickly skipped in front of the other girl to help pick her up... only to be too late again as the fallen one dusted herself off and picked up the small number of belongings as if nothing had happened. The redhead quickly jumped out of the way as the blue-haired one seemed to be talking to herself. It elicited a giggle.
"Here you are!"
Following close behind, the redhead held a smile and seemed eager to be friends with the other, seemingly more interesting, girl. She'd skipped to keep up while waving her hand in front of the bluehead to try and get her attention.
"I'm not sure if I have to ask, but are you okay? You fell down pretty hard back there, y'know. Maybe we can find our way to the nurse's office to see if you've hurt yourself in any way?"

"MEEP!" Miyako jumped at the sound of a giggle behind her and her face turned red as another girl came into view. She hadn't really been paying too much attention to her surroundings, and hadn't really seen here there! Now she was coming to the realization that her little scene had been caught. Oh well!
"O-ohai!" She stammered slightly, trying to regain her composure as the other girl was waving a hand in her face. "Yes, yes, I'm fine, really!" Miyako giggled softly and started skipping with the red-head. "I've taken much harder falls and lived to tell the tale!" She wrinkled her nose as if showing that nothing was broken. "See? All's fine!"
They reached the shore and Miyako dropped her bag and bat and stretched her entire body. "YATA!!!!" She jumped, then turned the small blue cap she was wearing to the side and placed one hand on her hip in a dramatic pose while the other shot out in a thumbs up. "We made it! We're officially here!" Several other students were giving her weird looks. Perhaps her attire was strange to them? She had opted not to wear the traditional blazer on her first day here, determined to come in as herself. Her blue hair whipped in a gentle breeze as she stood there in her pose, as did her little black skirt. She smiled widely at the red-head and picked up her things again, slinging the bat against her left shoulder.
"My name's Miyako Hatsune. What's yours?" She asked as she made her way to the dorms areas. That was first on her agenda...find her room and get settled! After that......fooooooood!

Very much glad that the blue-haired girl didn't hurt herself, the redhead nodded in relief and continued to watch her. More intrigue showed in her eyes as she watched and appreciated the enthusiasm being shown. There were also several giggles on their way to the shore as she kept watching, and listened as the blue-haired girl introduced herself as Miyako Hatsune. A nickname for her immidiately popped up in the redhead's mind. "Miyako, huh? Miya-chan! Well, my name is Nana. Nana Hanamura!"Nana's eyes gleamed in interest as she'd looked along the girl's clothes (her eyes seemed to "accidentally" dart along her thighs, to try and catch a glimpse under the dress, but, unfortunately, it was a bit too long for her to get a good look), Nana's own dress seeming to stand out among all of the students. Most of them were already dressed in their academy blazers, only a few more dressed in casual clothing. She'd realized that this realization probably came a little too late, since she'd already gotten off of the ship and it was already too late to change. Well, not like it matters now~ I've met this interesting girl and I can't wait to get to be good friends![/i] "So, where are ya headed? Maybe we could be going in the same direction!"

Miyako smiled as the girl named Nana seemed to be very comfortable around her. The fact that she had already come up with a nickname for her was attributed to that comfort. "It's so nice to meet you, Nana-chan!" Miyako bowed in the traditional Japanese style that was usually done when meeting others. She kinda bounced as she stood straight again, then looked out to the inner portion of the island.
There were buildings everywhere...some were colored, others were just plain. Some were larger than others....and they were the buildings that her eyes rested on. There three colors of roofs on these buildings: one was red, one was yellow, and another was blue. Perhaps it was the colors that got her attention. More than likely.
Someone on the boat had told her to head to the building with the roof of her blazer's color, and there it was, staring right at her. "Well, I've gotta check into my dorm for starters. Want to come with me, Nana-Chan?" Miyako was very happy to have met someone friendly right off the bat....it was making the move to this school so much easier for her.
"I also wanna see if they have any batting cages! Ooooh I hope they do!"

"Sure! I certainly wouldn't mind exploring a bit with someone new to the school too~!"
Nana giggled lightly as she liked the sound of "Nana-chan" coming out of Miyako's mouth. Before Nana could even realize it, though, she'd found that the two of them ended up at the Osiris dorms from what she could tell of what she'd read about this place before hand. She'd looked at the colored blazer that was sent to her before she'd headed to the island and she wasn't an Osiris. Hopefully she wouldn't get in trouble if she stayed with Miyako...
"Batting cages? Maybe for P.E. or something! No, this place is for dueling! It's a sport here, y'know~ But you certainly seem to be a big fan of baseball!"
Nana smiled warmly towards the other girl as she'd kept a firm grip on her bags and wondering where all of the other yellow-blazer-holding-students had gone. She'd been separated, it'd seemed... at the very least, she had a friend with her, though~
