The pen tapped with irritating frequency on the glass desk, as Elizabeth's chair was turned to the outside view of the window. Did she want to be trapped in a stuffy office? Well no, not in particular. But she only had thirty more minutes, then she had to go back to the Osiris dorms. Her jacket, normally a black blazer, was her red Osiris blazer today, considering where she had to go next. She sighed and looked back down at the paperwork she had to do; Valentines dances and all that good nonsense.
She raised her hands to the sky and stretched, and yawned once. Then she placed her cheek in her hand and her elbow on her desk, her red eyes boring a hole into her paperwork like a blow torch. When could she leave again? Why couldn't she get through this last bit of work on her desk?

Dr. Amy Morrison sighed, walking through the halls of the third floor as she went over the notes she took from her first class. While it seemed that most of them had things pretty well figured out...this really wasn't her field of expertise. But if the higher-ups wanted her to "keep the Egyptian fairy tales to a minimum", she really didn't have much choice. Gathering the rest of her thoughts, she swiped her ID card and opened the office door.
"...Oh. Sorry, didn't know anyone was using this one." Amy blushes a little as she went to close the door. The staff hadn't been formally assigned their own offices yet, so by unwritten agreement they used whichever one happened to be closest - it wasn't like any of them saw that much use anyway. "Sorry if I interrupted anything..."

The woman quickly sat up straight and lowered her hand as she heard a beep of the ID card. She stared up at the door with a shocked expression, until she saw one of the teachers come in. The passiveness of the woman was intriguing to her. Had the Headmaster not assigned offices yet? She waved her hand.
"No no. I was about to leave. We really do need to get ourselves in gear to get offices assigned, don't we?" She stood up at the chair and picked up the paperwork she was filling out. "My apologies... you did startle me a little though. I really don't know anyone at the Academy yet." Elizabeth said clearly and confidently. She clasped her hands in front of her and stood at attention, a smile fixed upon her face.

"Dr. Amy Morrison, Duel History. It's nice to meet you...They dumped the Osiris kids on you? Someone must not like you upstairs." Having not seen any of the "people upstairs", as she put it, Amy's boss' face eluded her at least long enough to put her foot in her mouth. It wasn't something that she could necessarily be faulted for, though it seemed to happen at her last job too...

Elizabeth gazed at her for a moment, and then a tinkling little laugh escaped her lips; quiet, but could be distinguished as nothing else but a joyful laugh. "Yes, I'm sure I must hate myself for giving myself the Osiris children. Are they quite rowdy, Ms. Morrison?" She stepped around the desk and held out her hand to the other woman.
"Elizabeth Majer. I'm the new Assistant Headmaster; unfortunately, I don't have the qualification to teach any kind of class here directly. So I find it rather honorable to be working amongst such accomplished colleagues." She said as she waited for the exchange of formal handshakes.

If Amy's face wasn't red before, it most certainly was now. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were...uh...hi?" The woman wanted to just laugh it off, some sort of joke. Truth be told she was so shocked that Amy wasn't sure what she could do except stare at her boss. It even took her a moment to realize that Elizabeth was offering her a handshake, which she accepted hastily.
"Umm...as for the Osiris children...well, their reputation precedes them. I may have spotted a f-few diamonds in the rough, though..." Given how much the teacher was fidgeting, there had to be something else on her mind. Not that she was going to volunteer that information, though.

She brought her hand back and spent its time by putting her hand into a fist, which she rested her chin under. Then one finger extended and touched her lips while she listened to Amy, while the other arm crossed her torso to let her elbow rest. She kept the smiling mask on her face, but really inside she was sighing. She was internally sighing at the fact that at this school, bad marks were treated as cancerous lumps, and not treated and dealt with. She shook her head.
"In my experience, youth merely rebel when their paternal figures have abandoned them, Miss Morrison. They either rebel, or they try desperately to seek attention. Perhaps it explains some of the problems in Osiris, no?" She laughed. "I must admit, when I saw their lodgings and how they were treated, I was startled. However, as much as I may try, this is Mr. Kaiba's facility, not my own." She held out her hand instead of having it clasped in a fist, and waved it once.
"However, your stance says you want to ask something. I'm all ears." She said promptly.

Amy sighed. "Yeah, there's only so much that I can do. They try...some more than others, but I'm hoping that they turn out better than people tend to portray them." And then Elizabeth caught the woman's fidgeting - something she'd sorely hoped would go unnoticed.
"Well...it's just that there's the dance coming up...and I don't have anyone to go with... The doctor's cheeks were absolutely luminescent red as she fidgeted more. why of all people did she have to be talking to her own BOSS about these problems?

She blinked a little. She wasn't under the impression that any of the staff would WANT to go. Of course, they would if only to supervise, but one of them actually WANTED to? She kept her hands behind her back as she watched the embarassed woman.
"Well Ms Morrison, I... not even a friend to accompany you? I honestly didn't know it would mean so much to... I was just planning to go there by myself, watch over the kids and drink some fruit punch." She said with a nervous chuckle. She shook her head. "Is there not a friend around here amongst the staff who would? Or are you asking if it would be feasible for someone in your position to bring a romantic interest?" Could it be?

"Uhh... Amy's mind was a mess. She shouldn't need to talk to her boss about this! Why was it so hard to say this? Moreover, why was she so nervous about speaking with Elizabeth?
"I...I'm not on good terms with the rest of the staff...we're sort of live and let live...so I...I... If there was a red to describe how flushed Amy's cheeks were, the word escaped her - as did any other word she would have liked to spit out...

"Not on good terms? Whatever for?" Elizabeth asked, clasping her hands together in front of her. She twiddled her thumbs mindlessly. This was odd to come across. She had barely talked with this woman for two minutes. Was this woman a bad egg? Should she have been warned about her? Elizabeth couldn't really tell.
"I'm... I must admit, I'm rather confused right now Dr. Morrison." she said with a bit of a nervous laugh.

Well, this was a gigantic mess the doctor had made for herself. Not like she could just take it back, either. It was sort of a sixth sense of hers, being able to know exactly when she was skirting with danger, so she chose her words accordingly.
"It...it's a long story. one that you needn't bother yourself with. I just have been so focused on my classes that I've not been able to get to know my co-workers - to be totally honest, you're the first faculty member I've talked to since arriving." While is wasn't the explanation Elizabeth necessarily wanted...it was one.
"I guess I just needed someone to be able to talk with, as opposed to talking to someone like a student. I'm sorry if it came out wrong...{/color]
