Personality: Alric is a boy with a dichotomous nature. He has two faces and two lives; that which he displays to the world and that which he bears in secret. To the public, Alric is an intellectual person who may at times seem socially awkward or even insufferable, but yet still has a kind heart. A very smart individual, Alric is a person driven by the pursuit of knowledge and challenges to his intellect. He enjoys games of strategy and treats life's challenged as just another game or puzzle for his mind to unlock and win. He has a wide base of knowledge and has a fascination with the ancient civilizations of old, especially Egypt. He excels at and enjoys research, and also enjoys being a "theoretical duelist" or rather somebody who spends more time musing on duel tactics, deck-building and the rules and state of the game then actually playing it.
However, Alric has a tendency to let his smarts inflate his ego. He sees himself as superior to those of lesser intellect and has no tolerance for what he considered stupidity. He can and will be brutally honest to others and if somebody utters incorrect information under the pretense of ignorance he will be quick to correct them, often in a snarky way. However, despite this, he dose, at times, show care and concern for others, or rather, feigns it. He will claim to be a loyal friend and will act like it, so long as you don't probe into his life. He is a very secretive person and hides much from the world, and that is for a very good reason.
Alric has a much darker side to him that he rarely shows to the world under his own name. Alric's view of life's challenges as a game and puzzle is much more then it would first seem. Alric in reality has a much more twisted aspect; he enjoys playing games with people's lives. Sadistic and a tad crazy, Alric has a great need to push the limits of his intellect, and to do that has turned to computer hacking to satisfy that need. Using the Alias Ennead, Alric has established himself as one of the world's biggest and most infamous cyber-criminals, and the thrill of causing chaos and watching authorities run around in circles with nothing but a laptop and his mind is something he cannot resist. He cares not for the suffering his actions in cyber-space causes and as Ennead declares himself a "liberator of information" despite the fact much of his doings as a hacker do little to liberate any form of information.
History: Alric was a lucky child. He was born to a very wealthy, yet loving family that always wanted the best for him. His father and mother where both people who valued smarts and skill and from day 1 they sought to instill in their son the importance of knowledge and learning. From cradle to present, Alric was always stimulated with useful knowledge and academic pursuits. As a baby he was taught how to express himself with sign language, and as he grew speaking and reading came very quickly and naturally to him; he was proving to even then be a child prodigy.
His parents, of course, where extremely pleased with their son's progress, but in all their effort to raise a smart child, they failed to nurture other virtues. While his family was loving, they where always busy. His father was always here and there on business and so too was his mother. He was left to essentially raise himself and as a result got little in the ways of moral instruction. He spent his time both reading and educating himself in multiple fields as well as playing lots of videogames and tinkering with computer software all while being home-schooled by private tutors. As he grew older he showed himself to be a computer wiz and natural academic, and he began to see his studies as beneath his mind. He was smart and he knew it, and as a result had become quite arrogant.
He needed greater challenges for his growing mind, and as a result he turned to deeper tinkering with technology, and duel monsters. The latter was a passion which was fickle and fleeting. When he first got into the game he was enthralled by it, however, as time went on and he felt he had mastered the game he started to grow bored with it. It is at that time that he started to get into computer hacking. At first it was just for information. He thought that, if he hacked info on yet to be released duel monster cards, it would peak his interest in the game again, but what started with stealing information turned into something much, much deeper.
Alric found that he loved the thrill that came with the "game" of hacking. He delighted in the power it gave him, and the challenge of it. He became intoxicated by it, and would never give it up. His plans and ploys became more and more elaborate and he took on the alias Ennead to hide who he was. He created all manner of malicious viruses and soon the name Ennead became infamous and feared. No year was complete without at least one new virus or bug courtesy of Ennead. However, as he caused chaos in the shadows as the hacker Ennead, his interest in duel monsters started to pick up again.
Hearing of a Duel Academy, he quickly decided that he would like to "investigate" this establishment as both Alric and Ennead. The side of him that walked in the light of the public eye would be the traveling duelist, interested in how the academy teaches the game. As for the side that sat in darkness, the hacker Ennead would become one of DA's biggest headaches and enemies, a force that would bring chaos to the school and it's students from a laptop miles away. With his laptop and the sizable resources of his wealthy family Alic set off to Domino to see if this new game he had set for himself is one which he will win.
