Name: Masato Oshiro Nickname: none as of yet Age: 15 l May 18 Gender: Male
Appearance:
Face Claim:
Personality: When first meeting Masato, one of three words that might come to people’s minds are respectful, energetic, and/or idiot. Masato has been trained from a young age to be respectful of others, and to always be extremely kind. This being said if he meets someone his age he has a tendency to be extremely overactive and very happy. This can come to the point where he'll unknowingly say something out of context or wrong and may anger a few people. This being said, the Masato has a major feel for gossip, but only the ones that can be real.
Those who actually get to know him, see that it is much worse. He has a tendency to be even more over active with his friends, and despite being really loyal to them, may cause more problems for them. That being said, Masato has always been known to be a mediator between people, and has shown to be able to quiet a potential storm. He can at times be seen reading, watching movies, or doing something else that would give him a decent story to pass on to others. He has a passion for sewing, and makes his own clothing as well as will make some for others. This is often followed by him saying, "This is a Masato original, there will never be anything like this." The only other thing people need to watch out for with Masato is that he has tendency to hug people. This could be from various things, from people helping him, to someone saying something cute, or even cause he was board.
History: Masato grew up a in a typical family; he was never really rich but not poor either. When he was younger he was always put down because of his weight, and caused him to seclude himself away from others. This had kept up for a few years, until on his way home from the grocery store he came across the night that would change everything he thought.
As he turned the corner toward his house, he passed by a small card shop where two of his classmates where standing outside. He looked over at them as they were flipping through various cards they bought, a smile came across his face until he heard one of them comment on a card. “It’s just a useless weak monster.” One of them said as he tossed the card over his shoulder into the bushes as they started to walk away. Masato cringed as he thought about the times people had thought about him the same way. Once they were fully out of sight, the young brunette laid the bags down on a bench to check the card they had tossed into the bushes. “Wattsquirrel?” The words barely escaped his lips as he looked down at the card, when a voice rang out from behind him. “Idiots, if they looked at more than just the level and the picture they may have noticed how useful it is.”
Masato was surprised to see a teen a few years older than he was smiling down at him. Masato quickly took off out of fear after grabbing his bags, unknowingly leaving the card on the ground. It wasn’t until the next day on his way to school that the same guy he saw that night standing against a street lamp. He tried to apologize for scaring Masato, and passed him the small card. As he looked up at the older teen, he mentioned sheepishly that it would be useless for him since he didn’t have a deck, let alone friends to play with. The last words he heard at that moment where, “well we’ll have to fix that issue.” After being told to meet him the card shop where they met before, and he would help him set up a deck. After a few hours of arguing over what cards would fit best for the deck, and watching a few matches that some other customers where having, Masato was slowly starting to understand the basic behind it.
After a week out of school, in which his new friend Akio, had spent teaching the basics for the game and introducing him to a few other people his age that played as well. Masato spent a year spending time with Akio, as well as making new friends, and slowly started to come out of his shell. His parents noticed the new change in his mood, and couldn’t be happier. It was then Masato and Akio heard about Duel Academy, and it became a race for them to get into the school. After a year of trying to persuade his parents into allowing him to go to the prestigious school, they finally agreed that if he could prove this is what he wanted to do, and that he had the skill to do it. As he thought of a way of doing it, Akio came up with an idea. A local store was having a tournament, to drum up business for the store, and Masato was able to take third.
Slightly disappointed that he didn’t get to face his close friend, he smiled as his friend took first place. It was two weeks before he left for Duel Academy, that his friend told him he had to move to America because of his parents work. They parted with the promise to face each other, in which Masato mentioned that he wouldn’t lose to Akio again.
